Earlier today, Chukong Technologies announced plans to split off its revolutionary game operations platform, SDKBOX, as a separate entity from its parent company. Kai Zhao has been appointed to lead the new initiative.
Chukong also revealed that SDKBOX has started to support game engines from Unity Technologies and Epic Games with its latest 2.0 update. Earlier this month, the SDKBOX IAP controller was approved for sale and listed in the Unity Asset Store.SDKBOX supports industry leading services for mobile game production and operations, including analytics and advertising. The service was added to Cocos2d-x in July 2015 and has since expanded, with over 4,500 games on over 20 million mobile devices now using its framework.
Haozhi Chen (CEO of Chukong Technologies), said: “Spinning off SDKBOX was the next logical step for scaling the business within the games industry. This move provides more autonomy for SDKBOX to support additional engines and grow market share in the live operations technology market for games. Additionally, the new company will have dedicated financial and strategic support from Chukong, and we’re looking forward to the future growth of this sector for our overall business.”
